REPORT ON RECERTIFICATION OF W COURSE: RWFM 415

CERTIFICATION PERIOD: 1/1/24 to 1/1/28

We recommend that RWFM 415 Rangeland Analysis and Management Planning be certified as a writing (W) course. We have reviewed a representative syllabus and have determined that the course meets or exceeds the following criteria: (1) 25% of the final grade is based on writing quality; (2) the total number of words is 2000; (3) the instructor to student ratio is 1:11; and (4) the assigned writing is appropriate to the major.

RWFM is a 4-credit course that uses one graduate assistant. Students write a section of a collaborative team plan on which they have collaborated on gathering field data. These individual sections of the plan are given instructor comments on drafts as well as in individual conferences. There is lecture on writing a technical report and on how to write collaboratively. Examples of plans are also used.
