We recommend that MMET 301 Mechanical Power Transmission be certified as a writing (W) course. Writing assignments for MMET 301 include ten lab reports and five progress reports, all written individually. There is also a collaboratively written professional project (grandfathered). Formative feedback is given on the progress reports, since there are five that are graded and returned before the next is due, with instructor comments. Students are required to meet twice during the semester with the University Writing Center. Instruction includes detailed project guidelines, availability of various writing resources, instructional podcasts, and examples.
