REPORT ON RECERTIFICATION OF W COURSE: MKTG 448
 
CERTIFICATION PERIOD: 9/1/21 to 9/1/25                  
 
We recommend that MKTG 448 Marketing Strategy be certified as a writing (W) course. We have reviewed a representative syllabus and have determined that the course meets or exceeds the following criteria: (1) 35% of the final grade is based on writing quality; (2) the total number of words is 2000; (3) the instructor to student ratio is 1:30; and (4) the assigned writing is appropriate to the major.
 
The writing assignment for MKMT 448 is a simulation report, for which students get extensive written instructor feedback on a draft; in addition, each student meets with the instructor two weeks prior to submitting the final paper for feedback. Finally, they are required to get additional feedback from the Mays Communication Lab. For instruction, they watch a video about writing, and additional videos are available if needed.
