REPORT ON RECERTIFICATION OF C COURSE: ITSV 476

CERTIFICATION PERIOD: 1/1/23 to 1/1/27

We recommend that ITSV 476 Information Technology Service Management Capstone II be certified as a Communication (C) course. We have reviewed a representative syllabus and have determined that the course meets or exceeds the following criteria: (1) 80% of the final grade is based on writing quality; (2) the total number of words is 1250; (3) the total minutes of performance is 80; (4) the instructor to student ratio is 1:19; and (5) the assigned writing and speaking are appropriate to the major.

Students in ITSV 476 do some collaborative writing and speaking, but only the individual writing and speaking are included in this summary. Students do a project presentation and two updates for speaking; for writing, they write a retrospective on their project. There is formative feedback in the form of peer review on the project retrospective assignment. They also get peer feedback on the drafts of their slide decks and outlines for the project presentation. Instruction includes review of samples of technical documents and a review of best practices for presentations.
