We recommend that ITSV 475 IT Service Management Capstone I be certified as a writing (W) course. We have reviewed a representative syllabus and have determined that the course meets or exceeds the following criteria: (1) 30% of the final grade is based on writing quality; (2) the total number of words is 7500; (3) the instructor to student ratio is 1:12; and (4) the assigned writing is appropriate to the major.
ITSV 475 is a 4-credit course in which students write twelve lab reports. Each is graded and returned before the next is due so that students can use the feedback to improve. Instruction includes the provision of guidelines specific to the course assignment and resources for writing a lab report, including library and writing center resources and examples of reports.
