CERTIFICATION PERIOD: 1/1/23 to 1/1/27
We recommend that EHRD 490 Research in Human Resource Development/Technology Management be certified as a writing (W) course. We have reviewed a representative syllabus and have determined that the course meets or exceeds the following criteria: (1) 34% of the final grade is based on writing quality; (2) the total number of words is 2750; (3) the instructor to student ratio is 1:18; and (4) the assigned writing is appropriate to the major.
Each section of this course has a graduate assistant helping the instructor. Writing assignments include a short paper on selecting appropriate resources, a research proposal, a book report, and a short paper researching jobs. Students bring rough drafts to class and receive peer evaluations as well as doing self-evaluation. Instruction includes lecture, scaffolding, guided practice, and discussion of how to write research articles and samples of articles.
