REPORT ON RECERTIFICATION OF W COURSE: CSCE 315
CERTIFICATION PERIOD: 1/1/23 to 1/1/27
We recommend that CSCE 315 Programming Studio be certified as a writing (W) course. We have reviewed a representative syllabus and have determined that the course meets or exceeds the following criteria: (1) 35% of the final grade is based on writing quality; (2) the total number of words is 2525; (3) the instructor to student ratio is 1:23; and (4) the assigned writing is appropriate to the major.
Writing assignments include a report for project 1, four status reports, and a problem exploration. The project l written report is turned in as a draft for instructor review. For the other assignments, the drafts are peer reviewed. Instruction occurs with a lecture on technical writing with samples, grammar and style expectations, and details about the writing expected for the class.
