COMM 431’s writing component consists of 12 #hopescroll assignments, which are reflective and descriptive logs of spreading awareness of a news story. Formative feedback includes both comments on earlier assignments informing later ones, as well as students having the opportunity to revise and resubmit writing assignments for a new grade. Writing instruction is provided over a couple of course days, which includes reviewing the assignment, taking and responding to student questions related to the writing requirements, and a class workshop.
