Lauren received her B.A. in English in 2008 and her M.A. in English in 2011, both from Sam Houston State University. While in her master’s program, she worked as a peer tutor in Sam Houston’s Writing Center.
Lauren worked at the UWC as a full-time staff member from 2012-2015 and then worked as an Executive Assistant in TAMU’s Philosophy Department for 7 years.
She currently works in Texas A&M’s University Writing Center as a Program Coordinator I where she helps students with their writing and speaking projects, presents classroom workshops, and helps facilitate events such as the Graduate Writing Retreats and the Writing Café. She has been a birder since she was 10 and will probably tell you a fun bird fact whether you asked for one or not.
Favorite writing strategy: Talk it out! If you’re struggling to find the best wording for an idea, try explaining it out loud to a friend, or your pet, or even yourself and write that down. It’s much easier to polish a clear idea you have written down than to try and come up with the perfect wording on the first try.
