What Types of Appointments Can I Make?
In-person
Meet with a writing/speaking consultant in person at our Evans Library location. Bring questions or ideas, as well as papers, videos, slides, or outlines to discuss. You can also make appointments for a group working together on a project. We can watch you deliver a presentation in our practice room and give you feedback or help you improve your spoken English during a conversation appointment.Email (Online Document Upload)
Submit your papers, slides, or videos online through our appointment system. You'll automatically be scheduled for the next open time slot. After you submit your work, we'll let you know when to expect a response. A peer consultant will spend up to 45 minutes making comments on your submission. When the appointment is finished, you'll receive an email with a summary of their feedback, as well as a copy of your document with the consultant's detailed comments in the margins.Zoom (Web Conference)
Meet with a writing/speaking consultant for up to 45 minutes online via Zoom. You can also make Zoom appointments for a group working together on a project. We can help you with papers, presentations, slides, or videos. Or we can discuss your assignments and brainstorm. You can also use Zoom appointments to practice a speech or work on improving your conversational English. This session type works best if you have a camera and microphone on your computer and a quiet place to work from.Need Proof of Your Visit?
Need proof that you visited the UWC? Let your consultant know during your session, and they will send their notes to your university email. You can then forward those notes as needed. We never share reports of your consultations unless you're involved in an issue related to academic integrity, and then we'll only share them with a responsible university administrator. If you forget to request the notes, email us at uwc@tamu.edu or phone us at 979-458-1455 to request them.Writing & Speaking Guides
Our guides take you from brainstorming to revision. Besides handouts, you'll see we've listed podcasts and videos as well as interactive lessons that allow you to self-assess your learning.

TAMU undergraduates must pass two approved courses in their major that fulfill the graduation requirement for writing and oral communication. Students may opt to take one W (writing) course and one C (communications) course or two W courses. If you are not sure whether a course is approved for your major, check with your academic advisor. If you are a double major, you need to fulfill the requirement in one of your majors. That means you need two courses in one major, not one in each or two in each. The W/C graduation requirement may not be met by any course listed as a University Core Curriculum communication requirement. In addition to taking the W/C courses, students must fulfill the 6-credit hour Core Curriculum Communication requirement.
The list of approved W or C courses changes every semester and can be checked in the Schedule of Classes in Howdy. W/C courses are not listed in the catalog. Check section numbers, not just course numbers, because departments may offer only certain sections of a course as W or C. A 900-section number identifies both W and C courses, as follows:
| Section Numbers | Course Type |
|---|---|
| 900-929 | W |
| 970-979 | W Honors |
| 930-969 | C |
| 980-999 | C Honors |
