Writing Cafe

Stuck on a writing project?

Maybe you want to wrap up a journal article, but your apartment is too quiet to focus? You need to crank out a literature review, but you haven't left your lab in days? You're tired of people popping into your office when you're meant to be dissertating? Or maybe you just need to buckle down and write the thing?

Then come write with us at the Writing Café.

coffee cup, laptop, pen, notebook, and text about meetings

Writing Café supports graduate students by offering a productive atmosphere on campus to motivate writing.

Studies have shown working alongside others improves productivity. If you've ever felt more effective writing in public with others around you, you've experienced the power of community accountability, sometimes called body doubling.

On the first Friday morning of every month, we provide coffee, light snacks, and good vibes. We make the Evans Grad Lounge (room 611) feel like a community Writing Café, even if our staff doesn't make coffee quite as well as your favorite barista. Regardless, we think the coffee and tea, variety of snacks, and sweeping views of campus will help keep you going.

We'll be set up from 10am-2pm, so come on by and stay for as long as you like. The dates:
