Andrea earned her B.A. in English in 2018 from Texas A&M University. She then continued her education, later earning a M.A. in Communication Studies from Sam Houston State University. She is currently working towards a Doctoral Degree in Higher Education Leadership with a focus on Administration, also from SHSU.
While pursuing her undergraduate degree, Andrea worked at the Texas A&M University Writing Center until her graduation. Afterwards, she had many roles, including Library Specialist for the TAMU libraries, ELAR teacher for 3rd and 4th graders, and an administrator for the Texas A&M English Department. In every role, she maintained her love of giving and receiving constructive feedback in writing and helping students whenever she had the opportunity.
Having returned to the UWC as a Program Coordinator I, Andrea will help run graduate programs, conduct classroom workshops, and work with DATA clients.
FAVORITE WRITING STRATEGY: Take every opportunity to “teach” your topic. Ask a family member or friend to listen to you explain what you’re writing. Hearing your words out loud helps you see where gaps in information may be lurking. It also helps get you comfortable with the material, that way you are retaining the information better!
