The UWC offers in-person or online consultations with certified consultants for writing or public speaking projects. Our in-person consultations are available at two locations, Evans Library or West Campus Library. Our West Campus location is open evenings and is for drop-in consultations only. At Evans, you can drop in, too, but we recommend making an appointment. You can make appointments up to two weeks in advance, but if you want to book farther ahead for a special project, give us a call and we can book the appointment for you.
Our online consultations are either by email or through a web conferencing system. With the email option, we'll make comments and suggestions on your draft and return it by email; select the web conference if you would prefer to share your draft and discuss it using a web cam or chat feature. See Hours & Locations for more details.
In consultations, you'll receive personalized advice and assistance based on your project and your needs. We work with you to improve your writing or speaking, so we'll focus on giving you the knowledge and skills you need to succeed.
We can work with you at any stage of your project, from understanding assignments to developing and organizing content to perfecting your prose or practicing presentations. Group appointments are available for students working on group projects.
Need to provide a report on your visit? You'll need to let your consultant know, or contact us to send a report. We will send the report to you, and you can forward it to whomever wants to see it. We never share reports of your sessions unless you are involved in an issue related to academic integrity, and then we'll only share with a responsible university administrator.
If you're running late for your in-person appointment, call us at 979-458-1455. We’ll hold your spot. To cancel, go online or call as soon as possible.
