UWC seeks communications media intern
Have “the voice”? Interested in a career in broadcasting? Love working with cutting-edge technology? Then listen up, because you don’t want to miss this audition. You could be the voice of the University Writing Center as an undergraduate student intern developing and producing a weekly podcast about writing.
You’d work under the direction of UWC communications and IT staff to propose and develop a format for the podcast and then begin producing a weekly edition. That means you’d help conduct interviews, write manuscripts, provide “on-air” talent and go through the process of compiling raw audio into a finished product. You provide great ideas and a clear, crisp voice, and we’ll provide an upbeat atmosphere, state-of-the-art equipment and an opportunity to have a major stake in an exciting new project at the UWC. In addition to producing the podcast, you’d help with other creative and multimedia projects as they arise.
Students from all majors are welcome to apply, but advanced computer skills are a must. Also, you must be comfortable working on a Mac, and exceptional written and oral communications skills are required. Starting pay is $8/hour for 10-20 hours weekly, and the UWC can provide documentation for students seeking an internship for academic credit. Note that the ideal candidate should be available from hire date through the summer and on into the fall semester.
This will be a competitive selection process, so write (and speak) to impress. Send résumé, cover letter and writing samples to Brady Creel, Communications Coordinator: bradycreel@tamu.edu. Applicants who have a broadcast portfolio are encouraged to submit links to digital files as well. No phone calls, please.
