Writing Matters, Fall 2005 issue.

The Spring 2006 issue of the University Writing Center faculty newsletter, Writing Matters, is now available.

The new issue reports on UWC efforts to serve students through the Web via the Online Writing Lab and contains a spread on the technology workshop presented by Professor Mike Palmquist of Colorado State University. Faculty teaching W courses at A&M’s Galveston campus also are profiled.

Also, UWC Executive Director Dr. Valerie Balester pens a letter to faculty colleagues about recent studies that point to an alarming rate of illiteracy among college students and graduates. “As demands for literacy escalate, Texas A&M
graduates are barely keeping pace,” she writes. “We must
remain mindful of what students today require.”

Printed copies of the newsletter are being distributed to all faculty via campus mail. The newsletter also is available in PDF form. Faculty who do not receive your copy or would like an additional copy may contact Jennifer Fogle: 458-1455, uwc@tamu.edu.
