Manuscript Guidelines…
Manuscripts will be accepted from students currently enrolled in classes at Texas A&M University in the following categories:
• Undergraduate Poetry
• Undergraduate Fiction
• Graduate Poetry
• Graduate Fiction
Only one entry for each category is allowed.
Undergraduate/Graduate Poetry: Submit 10 pages of poetry, with no more than one poem per page.
Undergraduate/Graduate Fiction: Submit either a short story or excerpt from a longer work, no longer than 25 pages.
Only original creative writing may be submitted. Writers may submit manuscripts in more than one category. Previous winners of the Gordone competition are ineligible to submit again in the same category.
Each entry should be accompanied by a completed entry form (on reverse). If you are submitting to more than one category, complete a separate form for each submission. Your name should appear only on the entry form. Do not include your name on any other page of the manuscript. Be sure to sign the entry form.
Manuscripts will be judged by Creative Writing faculty or by outside judges in each genre. The Creative Writing Program reserves the right to withhold awards in any category should submitted manuscripts prove to be of insufficient quality.
All manuscripts must be received by 5pm on Monday, March 31, 2008. Submit manuscripts in person at Blocker 201-C, or by campus mail to Dr. Paul Christensen, Department of English, MS 4227.
