Dissertation And Thesis Assistance (DATA) program

Ground Rules

  • Appointments must be at least 48 hours apart.
  • If I cannot make an appointment, I will cancel the session before the scheduled meeting time.  If I do not cancel, the missed appointment will be seen as a “no-show,” and two “no-shows” can be grounds for canceling the remainder of the sessions.
  • It is my responsibility to work independently on my paper between each meeting.  I will revise my work based on the consultant’s suggestions and attempt to make progress on my thesis or dissertation before the next session.
  • I do not expect my consultant to edit my work line-by-line, but instead provide general help or point out patterns in my writing.  If I require more extensive review, I will contact a freelance editor.
  • I understand that my consultant may ask me to meet with another consultant, especially in the case of a change in his or her schedule.  My consultant will make every possible effort to keep University Writing Center staff informed of my progress to ensure the least possible disruption in my learning.

Interested in joining the DATA program?  Apply by filling out the form.  We will contact you within two business days.
