REPORT ON PROPOSED W COURSE: RUSS 302 We recommend that, RUSS 302, Advanced Grammar and Composition, be certified as a writing-intensive (W) course for the next four academic years (3/07 to 1/11). We have reviewed a representative syllabus and have determined that the course meets or exceeds the following criteria:
- Percentage of final grade based on writing quality: 90%
- Course content appropriate to the major
- Total number of words: 4000+
- Instructor to student ratio for one section: 1:10
Students receive feedback in the form of instructor comments on papers and in class lectures. They revise their compositions after receiving instructor feedback and resubmit them for a grade.
