Home Using UWC Services
So we can serve you better, we ask that you...
- Schedule an appointment during our operating hours. Information on scheduling an appointment can be found on the Appointments Page. Please note that appointments are limited to no more than one per day and two per week.
- Think about what type of help you are looking for. The most productive use of the University Writing Center takes place when you come with specific needs or questions to discuss.
- Bring a copy of the assignment you are working on. It will prove helpful, for both you and our staff, to have the assignment on-hand so that we can work together in evaluating how successfully you are completing the project.
- Arrive on time. We'll hold your place for five minutes, but after that we may take another student who is waiting on stand-by.
All appointments are regulated by the following ground rules:
Teacher grading policies and grades will not be discussed. - Papers will not be proofread or edited solely by the consultant; however, the consultant will address your proofreading and editing needs, enabling you to correct your own errors.
- Papers you bring to the UWC must be original works written by you. We can help with documentation if requested.
- Unless you notify us, your appointment can be forfeited if you are more than five minutes late.
- You are responsible for establishing the direction and content of the session.
- Information from a session may be used for research, but your name will not be used.
- Consultations are limited to one per day.
If you stop by the University Writing Center when it is closed, check out the rack outside the door (which is accessible any time the building is open) for handouts that might aid you. Also check out our online help.
