{UWC moves to Evans' first floor}

Release Date: Thursday, Jun 29, 2017

Starting July 10th, the UWC's Evans location will be moving to the library's first floor Whitley Suite. The move is part of ongoing library renovations, which will soon shift to the 2nd floor.

The writing center is doing its best to limit disruptions to student services. Currently, the center plans to close to appointments from July 4th through 10th to allow staff to get situated in the new location.

The renovations are expected to take several months with current projections calling for the UWC to be back on the second floor by January. The newly renovated center will be expanded, as well as updated, providing both additional tutoring space and more administrative offices.

"As college students know, moving is a hassle, but we know our nearly expanded and refurbished space will be worth the inconvenience," explains Dr. Valerie Balester, assistant provost for Undergraduate Studies and the UWC's executive director. Balester also notes that the UWC staff is working hard to ensure the temporary space will allow the center to provide the same level of service to clients.

The Whitley Suite is located on the first floor of Evans, between the two banks of elevators.
